We are happy to announce that we have been invited to participate in an exhibition to commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11. The event is hosted by Fashion Has Heart, a local non-profit organization that works to combine fashion, art, and philanthropy to raise awareness and support for wounded American soldiers. All participants were asked to design a t-shirt in response to the question, “what does 10 years later look like to you?” As we discussed 9/11 and the challenge of how to communicate our feelings about the event ten years later, we were forced to remember the sadness of that day. We chose to honor the unsung heroes who lead the fight to preserve our freedom and renew our strength in the wake of tragedy.

All t-shirts will be displayed during the week prior to September 11 at the Fifth-Third Bank building at 111 Lyon Street in downtown Grand Rapids. We applaud all efforts to aid the community and are honored to have been asked to take part in commemorating September 11 as part of our ongoing commitment to support our community both locally and nationally. We encourage you to attend the event and join Fashion Has Heart in their continuing effort to spread support and awareness to those affected by September 11.

If you work in the design world (or in a similar industry), you’re probably familiar with Lorem Ipsum. If you’re not familiar with it, the most basic explanation I can offer is that it’s the placeholder text that is widely used to stand in for content to illustrate what a document will look like when the content is in place. It’s generally less distracting to the viewer because they are unable to read it while it creates a natural looking letter and word pattern. According to the article shared here, Lorem Ipsum was derived from the work of Cicero (The Extremes of Good And Evil, 45 BC) and has been used since the 16th Century, and became immensely popular in the 1960’s.

Now you have a very basic history and understanding of Lorem Ipsum. As a reward for absorbing some new information, we’d like to share with you a few versions of Lorem Ipsum that we found pretty funny. Enjoy!

Gangsta Lorem Ipsum

And here’s a link to a Lorem Ipsum generator (we reccommend Hillbilly Lorem Ipsum)

National Premier Partners Corporation is a new company aimed at enhancing and developing a dedicated contract furniture distribution network that will grow market share. National Premier Partners Corporation will carry the lines of a wide variety of furniture vendors. At this point we’ve developed a brand identity (shown here), business tools such as letterhead and business cards and have designed the NPP website, of which phase one will go into development and programing soon. Phase two will include a Rep Login portal followed by a Client Login. Stay tuned for further updates.

Branding is more that just a logo that looks nice. Yes, a logo is a main part of branding, that if designed well should stand the test of time. A brand should define your company and speak who you are through all visual/verbal materials. It is the first impression. Beyond logos there is so much more needed to build your brand, one major factor we stress, consistency. Here are some great questions to ask when determining your brand. The easiest way of course would be to ask the experts, Hunsberger Creative Group.

What do you do when you’re in need of a little creative boost? Do you head for the “fridge” to stare at the cool labels you’ve stockpiled, then end up snacking instead? Do you surf the web to see what the competition has been up to, then end up looking at remote locales to escape to in your retirement years (or sooner)? Or, do you stare at clouds passing by your window in hopes of finding something in them — quite possibly an Unidentified Flying Object (Roger)?

Many years ago during an interview I had with a creative director at Wolverine Worldwide I was asked that very question — “How do you find creative inspiration?”. I hadn’t really given it much thought up to that point in my life as I was a fairly recent graduate, so I had to improvise and think on my feet. I’m pretty sure my answer incorporated something to do with looking at architecture, including that of Frank Lloyd Wright. Admittedly, my answer didn’t wow the interviewer and I wasn’t offered the job.

To this day, I still find the answer to that question hard to come by. Yes, I can browse through every Communication Arts magazine on our rack, but who doesn’t do that and then try to recreate the wheel. Isn’t it said that there is truly no original idea, and that everything we do is a revised version of something that’s already been done? Yoko Ono once said, “There is no original art, only the rearrangement of existing elements.”

I wish I could see things from a completely new perspective — maybe that of my 4-year-old daughter. When I was a kid I would walk around the house holding a large mirror that I had pulled off the bathroom wall. I’d carry it flat out in front of me facing up to the ceiling. I’d step over doorway arches throughout the house as I made my way carefully down the stairs. Every step was a challenge that could’ve ended in disaster, but with each one I took I found something new I hadn’t seen before from that vantage point. There was something magical about twisting my perspective to experience things differently back then, and I believe there still is. It’s just harder to find that mirror without looking into it and seeing the same old thing.

Where do you find inspiration?

Hunsberger Creative Group would like to thank all who attended the CanCan. As a direct result of the generosity of our guests, we were able to collect almost 300 pounds of food for Feeding America West Michigan. Not only were we thrilled by the sheer volume of goods we were able to donate to those in need in our community, we were very happy to see a number of new faces in addition to those who have been friends of Hunsberger Creative Group for years. We had a wonderful time hosting the event and we sincerely hope those in attendance shared in our enjoyment. We are very excited to gather again next year to have some fun and collect another few hundred pounds of food for local pantries.

For those of you who weren’t able to make it down, we made sure to take some pictures! Take a look to get a taste of what you’re in for next year!
